Reflecting Pandemic
Seeing the spread of COVID-19 as a hauntingly empty cityscape. The bustling streets of Istanbul, once teeming with life, now lay silent and desolate. The once vibrant colors of the city have faded away, replaced by shades of gray and blue, a reflection of the somber mood that pervades the air. The closure period has cast a melancholic veil over the city, and as I capture these moments, I am reminded of the importance of human connection. As I observe the people in the street, I can see the weight of the pandemic on their mental health. The fear of the unknown, the loneliness that accompanies social distancing measures, the struggle to find a sense of normalcy - all these emotions are etched in their eyes. As I capture their portraits, I am struck by the vulnerability and resilience of the human spirit. In many ways, the pandemic has forced us to confront ourselves in ways we never have before. The forced solitude has given us the space to reflect on our past experiences, contemplate our future, and come to terms with our innermost fears and anxieties. It has also highlighted the importance of human connection.
